Katie Sheehan Posted by Katie Sheehan, Senior Communications Manager, Berrett-Koehler Publishers Inc.

“Leadership for a Fractured World is not your typical leadership manual; it’s an experience. It immediately drives you to want to act differently.” Limor Benderly, Manager, Excellent Leader Program, Amdocs

• KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE: Williams interviewed fifteen renowned world leaders for this book, including Mary Robinson, Kuan Yew, and the Dalai Lama, plus over 200 experts in business, government and NGOs.

NEW LEADERSHIP: Williams presents a fresh model that replaces the standard top- down, command and control style leadership with a fresh approach for crossing boundaries and solving complex, interconnected issues.

Leaders, whether in corporations or nonprofits, face multidimensional problems that no one person or group can solve. The issues of today requires cooperation from everyone, but according to Harvard scholar Dean Williams, most leadership models are still stuck in tribalism: individuals with authority only serving the interest of their own singular group. Leadership for a Fractured World provides a solution.

This book outlines an approach that enables leaders to move past internal and external boundaries, and help people collaborate together. Dean Williams draws on years of working in countries and organizations all around the world, showing how to successfully cross cultural, political, geographic, and other structural boundaries.

Leadership for a Fractured World reimagines power and authority in a practical way that enables leaders to become substantial change agents, heal wounds, and resolve conflicts to help rebuild our fractured world.
